We are a not-for-profit think tank with an aim to conduct high-impact social & economic research and convey key findings to the wider public.
Founded in 2018
The Development Research Foundation strives to be a leading economics research organisation in India with a focus on policy issues. India’s challenges are unique and so must be the proposed solutions. To arrive at these solutions, our researchers aim to combine international best practices with a nuanced understanding of local contexts. We aim to continuously innovate and engage with other disciplines to push the development agenda forward.
As a team of young economists, we aim to bring economic research to the forefront of policy making in India. A successful policy idea must be backed by evidence, be cost-effective and scalable. However, there is a mismatch between the supply of research and its applicability for policy, in particular. At the Development Research Foundation (DRF), we aim to explore innovative ideas from the world of academia and translate them into actionable plans.
