Updated: Oct 27, 2020
Researcher Rituparna Sanyal (Yale University) measures the inequality of opportunity among children in Bangladesh, along the dimensions of education, health, infrastructure and documentation services. She uses the Bangladesh Integrated Household Survey for the years 2011 and 2015 to compute the Human Opportunity Index (HOI) and comments on the significance of the scale and distribution effects in the changes in HOI between the two years. She finds that the overall opportunity index stood at 64 per cent in 2015.
